The Falcons will take on Ballarat Red at Dudley Cornell Park on Sunday at 1pm.
It will be a test for the Falcons, who will be without coach Elijah Macchia for the fixture.
The Falcons had collected two wins from three games – the same record as Red – and will be eager to collect another three points.
Horsham’s side is yet to hit its stride after a disjointed opening three rounds.
A round one domination against Ballarat North was pleasurable while the second round loss to Sebastopol was more than an eye-opener for the young side.
In round three the side thrashed an undermanned Buninyong.
This round will see the Falcons face its closest challenge to date.
It is a must win for the Falcons with the sides above them set for easy round four games.
What to expect:
The Falcons had a light week on the track after a very heavy pre-season and first three weeks. Several players needed a break due to niggling injuries and illness.
The side will be eager to play against tougher competition but will miss Macchia in the heart of the midfield.
It will be up to the older players in the side – in James Hibberd, Jake Hinton and Riley Bamford – to lead by example.
The Falcons will play its typical fast, attacking style with plenty of small, short passes around the middle and front third.
Horsham has been working on composed re-organisation at training when the side had limited options in the attacking third.
Players to watch:
Reuben Macchia: It will be a big day for the young midfielder who could be asked to play in his brothers defensive midfielder role. Macchia can play in the position but it could be his first time doing it alone.
Jake Hinton: It will be an important day for the captain who will lead a new position with his vigour.
