An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the child suffered the injury after jumping either on or off a rock.
An air ambulance helicopter airlifted the child to Ballarat, she was in a stable condition.
Police, Ambulance Victoria and State Emergency Services were called to the child’s aid just after 2pm, near Mt Zero road, Halls Gap.
