The Saints lost to Jeparit-Rainbow at Apsley on Saturday, 13.6 (84) to 11.6 (72).
Saints coach Michael Rowe had hoped his side could turn their two-game run of slower starts around – but they succumbed to the Storm in the third round of the Horsham District league.
In this game, a one-point opening term proved costly.
Meanwhile, the Storm created a good lead to begin their campaign, scoring three majors and two minors.
There is a possibility for anything in football, though, and the Saints proved that, fighting back in the second second term, kicking five majors.
The Storm managed three majors and two minors to maintain the lead 40 to 31 at the main break.
Tables had turned in the third quarter with the Saints looking the more lively side of the two.
The Saints scored five goals, and three behinds, and they edged into an unlikely lead at the end of the third and led the Storm 10.4 (64) to 9.5 (59).
The Storms’ accuracy from the boot pushed the side over the line, scoring four majors and one minor in the final term.
The Saints managed 1.1.
Jayden Werner was named best on ground for the Storm while the Saints’ best was Samuel McClure.
It was an even spread of goal kickers from both teams, with the Saints featuring nine scorers and the Storm having eight.
