Donald v Sea Lake-Nandaly
DONALD will have another tough task on its hands when it hosts Sea Lake-Nandaly this round.
The side will be looking for its third win of the season and has gelled as the season has progressed.
Coach Tom Bell said the midfield battle will be crucial to deciding the game.
“Sea-Lake Nandaly have a genuinely good ruckman that has been crucial for them in the first few rounds,” he said.
“Winning the ball in the middle and delivering it well to our forwards will be vital.”
The Royal Blues had plenty of ball in its forward 50 in round three but were not as clean as Bell would have liked. “That final kick into the forward line is where we need to improve,” he said. “We have a fairly stable back six now and it becomes about scoring enough at the other end.”
Sea Lake-Nandaly have also won two out of the first three game.
“All the teams have a week off next Saturday so it will be about leaving nothing in the tank and going out there to get the win,” Bell said.
St Arnaud v Wedderburn
SAINTS coach Jason De Graff has said Saturday will be a good opportunity for his side to get a first win on the board when it hosts Wedderburn.
“They have only won one game but have been competitive all season,” he said.
“I expect they will be hungry for a second win and we will be looking for our first.”
St Arnaud come into the round on the back of a heavy loss against Wycheproof-Narraport. De Graff did not want to take any loss lightly but said it was a learning experience for his young side.
“Wycheproof-Narraport are a very good side that have been together for quite some time,” he said. “It showed our boys where they need to be in order to compete, and what they can achieve if they stick together for a few seasons.”
Nic Coghlan continues to be a star in the side’s forward line having kicked all nine of his side’s goals in round three.
It will be up to the side’s midfield to lift in order for it to register a win. “Our defenders have been doing well under a lot of pressure,” De Graaf said. “When you have 70 inside-50s against you then you are going to get scored against. It is about playing a full four quarters, if we do that then I believe we can be competitive with any team.”
