Two large cranes either side of the river moved the pre-fabricated frames into place along the suspension wires, staring from the middle.
Passers-by and residents used took photos of the workers suspended above the river.
A drone was also deployed to film the assembly work.
The $1.2 million pedestrian bridge will connect Apex Island with the river bank along Major Mitchell Drive.
Two cable suspension towers were installed last month.
The project has been delayed numerous times since the official sod turning in November 2015.
