Swifts will host Rupanyup in round five action of the HDFNL.

Three Swifts player took part in the HDFNL’s big interleague win last weekend, with the rest of the team having a week off.

Coach and HDFNL representative Scott Carey said the break could not have come at a better time.

“It has been really good for us.

“There are always a few injuries and a bit of soreness around, so the week of helps us fix those issues.

“We are all fit and ready to go now,” he said.

Carey played alongside Andrew Cameron and Ben Taylor in last weekends big win over the Colac and District Football League.

Carey said the opportunity to play interleague pushes his team to be the best they can.

“Interleague footy sets the standard of where we want our club to be.

“Andrew and Ben are part of our leadership group and they really drive our guys to get the best out of themselves,” he said.

The Baggies game against Rupanyup will have an added importance, with the club celebrating the 40 year reunion of the 1977 premiership side.

Carey said it will be a great day for the club.

“For any team to win a premiership is huge and as a club we love to celebrate the success that was had 40 years ago.

“Our boys will rally around it and do our best to get the win on what will be a special day,” he said.

Swifts have had a terrific start to the season, winning their first three games and losing their round four clash to Edenhope-Apsley by one solitary point.

Carey said his side just need to maintain what they have been doing.

“Over the last few games we have kept up our pressure and concentration for four quarters.

“We can’t have a lapse at any stage of the game, we need to stay switched on for the whole match,” he said.

First bounce will be at 2.20pm at North Park on Saturday, May 20.
