It was a relatively short battle with Joiner winning in round two by TKO.
He said it took him seven weeks to get ready for the fight.
“I was training six times a week and twice a day,” he said.
“I did a lot of training and sparring with top quality people which played a huge part in this win.”
In round one Joiner was woken by a good hit by Lokteff, he said it woke him up.
“I was able to hit him with some big shots and drop him a couple times in the first round but couldn’t put him away,” he said.
Joiner said he knew he fought well in the first round and Lokteff would be feeling it.
In the middle of the second round Joiner landed a left hook, which dropped him to the ground.
“I was able to finish him off with some ground and pound,” he said.
Joiner believed his best could beat Lokteff.
“I knew I had to be at my best because Chris is the real deal,” Joiner said.
“He has fought at an international level and at some pretty big events.
“He’s regarded as the best heavyweight in Australia outside of the UFC.”
Joiner said this title is a huge stepping stone in his career.
But for now, Joiner will recover from the fight and prepare for the next opponent.
“We have a few things lined up,” he said.
“We’re in for a big year.
“Everything depended on the outcome of this fight.”
Joiner hoped he recovers quickly to help friends prepare for fights.
“It could take days or weeks to recover but I feel pretty good so hopefully I get back into training straight away,” he said.
“I have some guys with big fights coming up, I really want to help them out.”
Joiner’s team had a successful night in Brisbane with his coach Rodolfo winning the XFC Featherweight Title. Joiner said he thanked all the people involved with getting him to where he is today.
“I’ve received a lot of help and guidance to get ready for this fight,” he said.
“I’m very lucky to be surrounded by good people.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone back home who keeps on supporting me, it means a lot.”
