The forums, in June and July, will provide grain growers and other industry stakeholders an opportunity to discuss grains research, development and extension investments.
The corporation’s southern regional cropping solutions network is hosting the interactive forums at Warracknabeal on June 27, Ouyen on June 29, and Beaufort on July 4.
Network co-ordinator Jen Lillecrapp said the forums were another way for growers to engage directly with corporation staff, along with members of the network and corporation’s southern panel.
“The forums will provide those attending with a snapshot of key corporation investments, and GRDC staff and leading research, development and extension partners will discuss how GRDC investments are assisting to address important issues for grain growers,” she said.
“The forums, which are a new concept, will provide growers and other industry stakeholders an opportunity to understand the latest findings and have direct input to shape future research and development for the important issues that affect the profitability of growers.
“The forums are also a chance for us to confirm that the most important issues that affect profitability of growers in Victoria have been recognised by the southern regional cropping solutions network.”
The southern regional cropping solutions network comprises 38 members – 21 growers, 13 advisers and four researchers, plus 10 members of the southern panel, who are spread throughout Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
“The network provides a mechanism that further links the Grains Research and Development Corporation with growers and industry stakeholders,” Mrs Lillecrapp said.
“The network helps to identify key issues and the contributing factors to subsequently assist the corporation in planning and delivering research and development to overcome the major constraints and capture the opportunities that will deliver the greatest benefit for growers.”
The Warracknabeal and Ouyen forums will be from 9am to 12.30pm, while the Beaufort forum will be from 7am to 10.30am, and catering will be provided.
Mrs Lillecrapp said.anyone wanting more information about the forums, including registration details, could visit the corporation’s events page at grdc.com.au/events/list.
She said any growers, advisers and other grains industry representatives who wanted to raise an issue should speak to a member of the network.
She said member’s details were available online.
