Embossed on the forehead and chin are the words, ‘G. Kruger Murtoa’.
Gustav Kruger established a general store in McDonald Street, Murtoa in 1889, which he continued to run until 1927.
Director Geoff Ford said it was the last one the museum needed to make a set.
“Five merchants had the jugs made as advertising, but we’re not sure how many are left. They are very rare,” Mr Ford said.
The National Museum of Australian Pottery have been trying to find one of these jugs for 10 years and are looking to acquire it by either gift or purchase. People who can help can contact Mr Ford on 02 6036 3464 or via info@australianpottery.net.au.
