Taylors Lake v Kalkee
TWO sides in the depths of the Horsham District league standings will do battle on Saturday.
This game could end a losing streaks for one side, after both recorded a slow start to the season.
The Kees sit in 10th place on the ladder with one win while the Lakers are 12th with no wins.
Lakers coach Gabby McCulloch said players had overcome an early issue of match fitness.
“Now we are looking at keeping control of the ball, not conforming to the opposition’s pace,” she said.
“We have never been too bad in defence – we’ve always had trouble at the other end of the court.”
The Lakers have conceded 236 goals this season – the fifth most in the league – and have scored just 119 goals, the least of any side.
Zara Staples returned to the side against Harrow-Balmoral and managed 17 goals.
“We only lost by 24 against the top side,” McCulloch said. “Our aim is for a decent scoreline against Kalkee.”
Rupanyup v Jep-Rainbow
TWO more sides deep in the table have the chance to collect a win.
Rupanyup has taken just one victory from the season while Jeparit-Rainbow has struggled with no wins.
Panthers coach Kayla Woods said she expected Saturday to provide a close contest.
“I think it will be a high-scoring game. They will be hoping to get a win, too,” she said.
“We will need to apply a lot of pressure up the court. It will be important to shoot accurately.”
Woods expects her mid-court and goal shooters to perform well.
The side will be without its main goalscorer, Blair Burke, for the contest.
Eden-Apsley v Laharum
EDENHOPE-APSLEY will be short several key players in the game against the undefeated Laharum on Saturday.
The Saints have gone through some changes this season, especially in attack.
The Van Dyk sisters won’t be available at the weekend, which will leave a big hole in the side.
The Mountain Maids will be all but ready to collect their sixth win of the season.
Noradjuha-Quantong v Harrow-Balmoral
IT HAS been a tough couple of weeks for the Bombers.
The side will take on reigning premier Harrow-Balmoral – also A Grade ladder leader – on Saturday.
This match-up has the potential to be a nail-biter, but the Roos will go in favourites.
Pimpinio v Nati United
THE Tigers have been improving every game and have a chance to show they are good enough to dance with the best.
After a hiccup against Laharum early in the season, the Ewes have bounced back and collected four wins from five.
Southern Mallee v Swifts
THIS game looks to be a whitewash already.
The Giants have been scoring goals for fun and has shown it can do it with no available rotations.
The Baggies won their previous game but has a task at hand in round six.
