Roos coach Al McKinnon said Horsham are the yardstick every other team will measure itself against early in the season.
“All I can ask the team to do is to keep improving each week,” he said.
After going down to Stawell in round four his side will need to adjust to play against a team with different strengths.
“Horsham are more of a running team,” he said.
“We will be focused on slowing down the opposition run by applying more pressure on the ball carrier so we can then run the ball the other way.”
The Dimboola backline functioned better with the return of important players last round but will have a big job stopping the in-form Josh Mibus and Joel Geue.
The talent pool of the home team extends far beyond its forward line and will stretch the Roos across the ground.
“You can’t tag the whole team,” McKinnon said.
“We need to focus on playing four quarters and trying to make the most of our strengths.
“We have not utilised our big blokes as much as we should have, if we can do that and trap the ball forward we give ourselves a chance.”
