Cougars coach Nick Murphy managed eight majors in his sides massive win against Naracoorte helping his side to its third victory of the season on Saturday.
There was a strong wind going against the Cougars in the first quarter but the side still managed to get in front.
The Cougars had a strong second term and scored 7.2 (44) to Naracoorte 1.0 (6).
Halftime score was 11.6 (72) to 4.0 (24).
The side shut out the opponent in the third term and kicked nine majors and four minors.
Murphy said his side had a strong, four-quarter game.
“We have been starting slow in the past couple of games so it was good to see we played well from the start,” he said.
“We dominated in the clearances and the stoppages.
“Nathan Bowles did well in ruck and made it easy for our on-ball brigade to get repeat inside 50s.”
The on-ball brigade were Cohen Thiele, Liam Vivian and Alex Brown, who got second, third and fourth best respectively.
Murphy was named best on ground.
“The team finally got reward for the hard work they have put in,” he said.
Lucindale 13.11 (89) def Border Districts 8.12 (60)
Border Districts were slow out of the blocks and this costed the team the game.
Its third quarter was the side’s best of the day but it couldn’t catch up to top-of-the-table Lucindale.
The Eagles managed four majors in the third.
Zack Edwards was named best for the side.
