The home side was on song all day and it was only let down on occasion by its ability to convert on the way to the 20.25 (145) o 5.4 (34) win.
Horsham coach Louie Dalziel said his side was on right from the word go. “It was another good win,” he said.
The Demons were on the board early and often against a Roos side that struggled to get the ball moving forward.
At quarter-time the side opened up a 22-point lead.
Things went from bad to worse for Dimboola in the second quarter as the home side restricted it to just two-points in the second quarter.
At the other end of the ground Horsham created 12 scoring shots but they only managed to convert eight into goals.
It was contested possession that led the way for the Demons.
“That is an area of the game we knew Dimboola would want to challenge us at,” Dalziel said.
“We know teams are going to want to try and slow us up around the contests so we need to have area of the game that we can rely on.”
Once the Demons won the ball in the contest it was spread, run and carry that enabled the side to score freely.
The third quarter saw the side score seven goals and seven behind while Dimboola mustered a single goal.
Dimboola coach Al McKinnon said his side was simply outrun and outplayed.
“I think we take what we can from the game but move on pretty quickly,” he said.
“It’s the same thing we have problems with each week – spreading around stoppages.”
The Roos managed to bang home three goals in the final quarter but were still comprehensively beaten across the oval.
Dalziel said Tyler Blake was a strong performer again, as was Deek Roberts, but it was Simon Hobbs who was best on ground.
“I think Simon is as good a player as any other going around in the league at the moment. His ball use and the way he carries it is something special.”
McKinnon said Kieran Fraser put in a good effort against John Wood, while Jayden Lehmann and Daniel Greg were named his sides best.
“After the game we spoke about making sure that is our worst performance of the season,” McKinnnon said.
“Hopefully we have some good numbers on the track this week and we can rise to the challenge against Nhill.”
Dalziel had words of encouragement for McKinnon. “I think he has them going in the right direction.”
