Walker failed to qualify for the championships at the beginning of May, but after two riders withdrew from the event he was invited to compete.
The championships will run across June 17 and 18 in Spain, leaving Walker little time to prepare.
“It was definitely a surprise considering I only found out last Friday,” he said. ”It was crazy because we were running around trying to organise everything as soon as possible.”
Walker said the two competitions are both elite despite slight differences.
“The ramps are a lot different,” he said. “Barcelona is more structured. It will be a big course, and I get two one-minute runs to do my tricks.
“If I land every trick I think I am a good chance to place.”
Walker said he is happy to be rewarded for his efforts.
“I have worked super hard to get to where I am,” he said.
