Students have began learning their lyrics and perfecting their dance routines – all while delivering their lines and channeling their character’s personalities.
Shanae Thomas, who plays Elle Woods, said it was great for rehearsal to begin and met everyone who was involved in the production.
“With every musical, I love meeting and getting to know the new kids – they bring a new dynamic to team,” she said.
Also with lead roles are Lucinda Binney, playing Brooke Whindham, and Remy Cross, who will play Warner Huntington III.
“The environment so far has been my most favourite part. We just go into rehearsals and try different things and because everyone involved is really creative, there isn’t judgement – which makes what we do that more enjoyable,” Lucinda said.
All three students are in year 12.
They agreed that balancing their studies with the musical has been the most challenging part, but it has been worth it.
“Being part of the musical has let me talk to people that I normally wouldn’t have and I’ve made heaps of new friends because of it,” Remy said.
Shanae said: “It has been physically straining and learning the harmonies has been difficult, but in the end I couldn’t imagine not doing it.”
Horsham College’s production of Legally Blonde Junior runs from September 14 until September 17 at Horsham Town Hall; tickets cost $25 per person.
