Society secretary Andrea Cross said the toilet block was about 60 years old.
“It is a good solid structure, but it needs a bit of love,” she said.
“Over the years, the block has lost its graciousness and our intent is to upgrade it.”
Mrs Cross said the society hoped to add tin to the men’s urinal, repaint the block and line it with corrugated iron.
She said the upgrade was needed as the showground was expanding as an events centre.
Horsham artist Don Mitchell will also contribute to the upgrade and paint a mural on the toilet block.
He will use historic show photos as inspiration.
Mrs Cross said it was important to keep the block in a rustic theme to tie in with other buildings at the showground.
She said the society had set up an online fundraiser for the upgrade.
“We are hoping to use recycled tin in the cladding process, so it might not cost as much as we first anticipated,” she said.
“The showers desperately need modernising though.”
Mrs Cross said the Horsham Show was in September and there would be a wedding expo at the showground in November, so the work would be completed by then.
She said people could donate online at gofundme.com/3sn91fk.
