Project officer Annie Mintern said the expo was country Victoria’s largest, with more than 100 exhibitors to attend this year.
“We have a lot of different things this year, which is good as the same kids come a few years in a row and we can offer something new,” she said.
“This year we have 22 new exhibitors attending.”
The careers expo has a large focus on sport, with Moana Hope of the AFL women's league the special guest.
“She will do two seminars and a handball target will be set up for visitors to a have a go against Moana,” she said.
More than 40 seminars will discuss a range of careers.
“Macchia Jewellers is a new one this year, which I think will be interesting because not many people know how to become a jeweller,” she said.
Ms Mintern said Horsham Dental Clinic was another new addition to the event.
“We’ve never had a dentist at the expo so it will be interesting to see what they bring,” she said.
Ms Mintern said the hands-on experience available at the careers expo was one of a kind.
“Some students don’t know what they want to do and if they can participate in activities, they can get a better understanding on what the job will entail,” she said.
Ms Mintern said the careers expo was not only for students with aspirations in higher education but also for students looking at apprenticeships or adults searching for a change in career.
“We will have a lot of exhibitors recruiting, such as Grain Corp, Agricultural Victoria or the Department of Justice,” she said.
More than 2000 people from across the Wimmera and Mallee attend the expo annually.
Exhibitors consist of local, regional, metro and interstate representatives.
Attendees have the chance to talk to a wide range of advisors on a one-to-one basis.
The careers expo starts at 9.30am and runs until 2pm.
