Williamson will become the first female AFL Western District general manager and the second female appointed to the role across the state, following the appointment of Carol Cathcart in the same role at AFL Central Victoria earlier this year.
Williamson was a member of the Stawell Athletic Committee for a number of years – something she said was instrumental in growing her passion for sport and prompting her to move her career into the sporting industry.
“I am really excited to be given the opportunity to be in this role. It’s based in the town I live in and it’s a really vibrant sporting area, so I’m looking forward to getting started,” she said.
Williamson starts in the role on July 24.
She replaces Lachy Patterson, who resigned in May to take a position at Southern Grampians Shire.
