Hope joined the club’s female side as well as the under-14s on the track for an hour-long session before signing autographs and taking photos with the excited young players.
After training she talked about her love of the sport and how hard she worked to follow her passion.
Saints female vice-captain Coco Ledger said it was unreal to have Hope at training.
“It really puts into perspective how far we can go with footy,” she said. “It’s not just the youth girls, there is another level to go that is above and beyond that.”
The female footballer is preparing for a grand final against Hamilton on Sunday.
When asked by coach Mat Taylor what piece of advice she would have for his team Hope said the best advice she could give was to have fun.
“If you go out and have fun, enjoy each others company and play for each other as if you’re family then that is all you can do,” she said.
“If you enjoy it and you are all happy then it should be a good game and hopefully you can come away with that win.”
Hope was in the Wimmera to make several appearances including at the Western Victorian Career Expo.
There she talked to the audience about how she enjoyed being part of a team environment.
“I can join a footy team like Collingwood and take on 27 new sisters,” she said.
“It’s about having that family feel in the team, they become family and you take that out onto the field in a way.”
She detailed her busy daily schedule which starts at 3am and finishes at 11pm.
Her routine allows her just one rest day each week.
“I love my job, I love my family and I love football,” she said. “I do whatever I can to help and support my family. I don’t do it because I have to, I do it because it’s family and I love my family – they come first no matter what.”
Hope endured a tough first AFLW season after she tore her posterior cruciate ligament before the season even started.
“It was a tough year but I am back to 100 per cent now and I can’t wait until next year,” she said.
