Detective Senior Constable Melinda Beal said it was now believed that an additional two pearl necklaces and one gold necklace were stolen along with six other pieces.
The estimated total value was more than $12,000.
“We would encourage anyone with information to contact Ararat Police or Crimestoppers, which can be done anonymously,” she said.
“We would like to get the jewellery back.
“The jewellery has sentimental value, and of course it has financial value as well.”
Police launched their initial appeal last week following a burglary and jewellery theft in Ararat sometime between May and June.
Investigators have been told a family who had been holidaying from 15 May arrived back at their Gordon Street home on June 4 to discover a jewellery box containing a number of valuable items had been taken.
Among the items were:
- 1 x 9-carat white gold bracelet
- 2 x 18-carat white gold rings
- 1 x white gold diamond bracelet
- 1 x 9-carat white gold diamond bangle
- 1 x amethyst stone
Investigators have released images of some of the items of jewellery in the hope someone may recognise them and be able to provide information.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
