Lanza Sings Again will hit the stage on July 9.
Narrator Chris McKenna said the show followed the life of Mario Lanza.
“Mario was born in 1921 and he was arguably one of the finest tenors in the world,” he said.
“He recorded more than 500 songs, he wrote grand operas, musical theatre pieces and pop ballads.
“He had great looks and an unbelievable voice.
“He starred in movies and operas and all before he died at the age of 38.
“He had an incredible career.”
McKenna said the show celebrated his life and many of his hit songs would be performed.
The production stars Roy Best as Lanza.
“Roy was a finalist in the ABC television show Opperatunity OZ,” McKenna said.
“He has a fine voice and will sing Lanza’s songs in the original key.”
McKenna said Best was a race car driver and a mechanic before turning to music.
“He has performed in Horsham before with Great Songs of The War Years,” he said.
The show also stars soprano Alison Jones, who will play Kathryn Grayson, Lanza’s preferred soprano.
“Alison has had a stellar career and she has sung all over the world,” McKenna said.
He said the show would feature a great mix of songs.
“We will have a bit of opera, some musical theatre numbers and songs from Lanza’s film scores,” he said.
Songs like ‘Be My Love’, ‘Strangers in Paradise’, ‘The Loveliest Night of the Year’, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, and ‘Granada’ are some of the hits that will be sung in the production..
“We are looking forward to coming to Horsham and to the world-class Horsham Town Hall,” McKenna said.
“We always have a great time when we are there.”
McKenna said the show was 90 minutes of sheer joy.
“We have toured this show all around Australia and now we are doing a special run in western Victoria,” he said.
“IT’s a family show, it starts at 3pm, and everyone who attends will have a very good time.”
McKenna said people could go to horshamtownhall.com.au for more information and to buy tickets.
