Melbourne street artist Rone is painting the giant mural as part of Yarriambiack Shire’s Silo Art Trail.
The silos will depict Geoff and Merrilyn Horman, whose families have lived and farmed in the area for four generations.
Born in the district, the couple married at Lascelles in 1967 and together with their two sons, they have continued wheat farming and have had strong community involvement.
The Hormans said they were shocked at first to be chosen for the silo, but believe the project will increase tourism for the town. “If it benefits the community then we’re happy,” Mrs Horman said.
