Second year full-time students have almost completed their two months of industry placement and I’m sure they are eager to return to the college next week to complete the final stage of their course in semester two.
The first year full-time students have pretty much had the campus to themselves this term and have participated in a range of skills activities such as shearing, welding, first aid and chemical training to complement their normal training timetable and are now no doubt enjoying their well-earned three week holiday.
Whilst last month was very dry, it was most pleasing to see winter start with a soaking rain across much of the state, providing confidence for everyone to complete their cropping program as planned.
I have been travelling the state promoting agriculture to school leavers and with Longerenong College’s open day looming just around the corner, it is imperative to let everyone know that if you are interested in a career in agriculture get to the open day on Sunday, August 13.
LOCAL BUSINESS SUPPORTS COLLEGE
Wimmera Small Engines offered significant support in assisting Longerenong College to obtain new chainsaws for use in training.
This training is an integral part of the agriculture program.
