The two courts inside the basketball stadium were full as 53 juniors got tips from Shaun, his brother Aaron, their father Steve, rising-star Chloe Bibby and Ash Constable.
“For these kids to be able to see some players that went on to bigger and better things is great,” he said.
It was the first time Shaun had run a Horsham camp.
“They can take home some new drills they haven’t done before,” he said.
“But it’s also about giving them a good experience. Hopefully they have fun and it keeps them in the game for longer.”
He said that growing up as a junior in Horsham he always had people he looked up to and knew the juniors continued to be in good hands.
“I remember looking up to players when I was their age and wanting to be at that top level, if we can be someone these kids look up to than that’s really positive,” he said.
“As a kid I was lucky because I could look up to my older brother Aaron.
“Our dad, Steve, definitely started us off up until about the under-14 age and then he handed us off to Owen Hughan who has done a great job with a number of kids and still is.”
Shaun said there was plenty of skilled plays on court.
“They’re hard-working as well so no doubt they’ll have bright futures,” he said.
“There have been a number of good players come from this region so if you want to work hard and put in the time you can go onto the next level.”
