For me, it was a Tuesday. My perfect day started with a sleep-in – a real one with actual extra sleep.
One where my body clock had woken me up at my usual six, but I was able to snuggle down and drift off again.
My three girls were all up for a sleep-in too. With bodies flooded by hormones, they needed a break.
When I did get up, I kicked around the kitchen with the girls for ages in my dressing gown and slippers.
I took the time to have two cups of coffee, rather than the usual rushed shower, make-over and manic morning routine.
So relaxed and happy, I was able to smile at my children, and that was a nice change.
Tiani had a hankering to bake and I felt rested enough to be patient and kind, a helpful teacher and calm advisor.
Especially when she tried separating the eggs.
My 11-year-old produced the best brownies I have ever eaten.
All that dark chocolate and chewy cakeiness combined was good for the heart.
Obviously, I only added lashings of cream because that was good for our bones.
Having gorged ourselves on brownies, I thought lunch was done and icing sugar dusted.
But the girls got hungry at about two.
My perfect day got even better when 15-year-old Katianna stepped up to the plate.
She prepared pan-fried parmesan, panko and parsley-coated chicken breasts with Dijon mustard and red onion on the side.
Of course, I am happier if I’m well fed.
To top it all off, Katianna was so sick of electronic everything that she asked to play some board games.
Feeling slightly weary by evening, but so over the moon at her heart-warming suggestion, I psyched myself for a gruelling game of Monopoly or energetic outing with the Pictionary. There was no need to stress, as Katianna had chosen our long-lost My Little Pony-themed game of Trouble.
So Yasinta, Tiani, Katianna and I spent the next couple of hours trying to win a dice game of chance. I don’t want the school holidays to end!
