THE Wimmera Mail-Times will next week catch up five other Wimmera footballers trying their luck in the AFL.

This will include the likes of brothers Tom and Oscar McDonald, formerly of Edenhope-Apsley.

The brothers both play for Melbourne, with Tom among the Demons’ leadership group.

Our update will also include former Harrow-Balmoral powerhouse and Brisbane Lion Michael Close.

A teammate of Horsham Saint Jarrod Berry, Close played his best game of the season in round seven against Sydney.

Matt Rosa, formerly of the West Coast Eagles and Wimmera league’s arrack Eagles, will be in contact after a successful second year at the Gold Coast Suns.

Rosa’s best performance came in round 15 when the Suns played against North Melbourne. He managed 26 disposals and 17 handballs.

It has been a big year for Fremantle midfielder Darcy Tucker – particularly across three games gaining a career-high 11 handballs, six marks and three goals.
