The Rats lost to the Burras by 104 points in the last meeting between the two teams in round four at Alexandra Oval
Rats coach Terry Keilar said the players were gaining confidence in themselves and think they can cause the upset.
“We have taken a lot of confidence from our win against Dimboola,” he said.
“The boys started to hit some targets in that match which has helped but the Burras are the top team and sitting on top of the ladder for a reason.”
With the Rats already having seen the Burras first hand, Keilar said there were some particular things that stood our which Minyip-Murtoa did well.
“They get behind the ball really well, in the stoppages they feed it out backwards and transition from there,” he said.
“A lot of their drive came from the midfield, so if we can increase our intensity, hopefully we can slow them down but it will need to be a team effort.”
The Rats will also have a few changes for the first match back after the midseason bye.
Keilar said there will be some key players returning to the team.
“We will be welcoming back Daniel Mendes from a hamstring injury who has not played since the previous game against the Burras,” he said.
“And Paddy Turner will come into the senior team as well which will strengthen us up.”
First bounce at 2.20pm at Minyip Recreation Reserve
