Loats is one of Victoria’s Elite Umpires and was selected to umpire at the event for the 13th year.
Loats said it is her love for the sport that has kept her involved for so long.
“I just love it. You meet beautiful people and have the best time,” she said. “A lot more people play up there, so the experience you get from going up and meeting different people is terrific.”
Players from as far as Scotland gathered for the event, which served as a warm up for the 2018 Commonwealth Games to be held on the Gold Coast.
Loats is currently waiting to hear if she will be selected as an umpire for the Games. She said it would be a dream for her to participate in them.
“I don’t even mind what I would be doing, it would just be terrific to be involved.”
Loats’ will umpire at the Victorian Open at Shepparton in November this year.
