The Ararat Rats were unable to recover from a slow start, as they went down to Minyip-Murtoa by 28 goals at Murtoa on Saturday.

The Burras jumped out to an early lead with the Rats unable to counter the home team’s dominance across the court.
The Rats went into the first break trailing 5-18 and needing a boost in the second term.
The visitors were able to score more freely in the second quarter, adding 10 goals to its tally but the defenders struggled to minimise the damage done at the other end, as the home team extended its lead to 19 goals at half time.
In the second half, the Rats improved in the defensive end and only conceded nine goals in the third term to keep the margin to 20 going into the final quarter.
The home team piled on 16 goals in the final term to the Rats’ eight to leave the visitors trailing 31-59 at the final whistle.
Tahnee Walker top-scored for the Rats with 21 while Tayla Borelli showed some promise with 10 goals.
Kirby Knight did most of the damage for the Burras, scoring 39 goals from 49 attempts.
Rats’ defenders Cecilia Stewart and Rebecca Skrabl shared the best on court honours for their team in the round 11 match.
The loss leaves Ararat in danger of missing out on finals action, as it now sits four points plus percentage outside of the top five with five games remaining.
The Rats are set to host the Warrack Eagles in round 12.
