Heidi and her husband Peter live on a farm near Donald and she said she arrived in Australia in 1988.
Heidi said the population of Denmark is 5,000,000 and to gain an idea of its size, five times the size of the state of Victoria would fit into the country, which borders on Germany.
Denmark is Europe's oldest kingdom and its flag, the oldest European flag, was officially adopted in 1625. The red flag with its white cross is known as the Dannebrog or Danish Cloth. According to Danish legend, the Dannebrog descended from the skies during a battle of Estonia on June 15, 1219. The country is divided into shires.
Following Heidi's address, members enjoyed the luncheon served from a table displayed with Danish memorabilia and followed by the general meeting.
Branch president Audrey Hoffmann presented new member Rhonda Fredrickson with CWA information and her name badge and welcomed her to the branch.
Members will donate $50 to the CWA project, Women Walk the World.
Concerns over the cancellation of the Central Wimmera group exhibition were raised and a resolution regarding its future will be presented at Central Wimmera group conference at Hopetoun on August 25.
Knitting for East Timor children; jumpers, beanies, and socks are required and members are asked to bring articles to the August meeting.
