Giants coach Kelly Gray said she was anticipating a close game.
“Last time we played them, we lost – but only by a few goals,” she said.
Gray said the defensive end would keep pressure on the ball.
“Their goal-shooter [Sharon Fedke] shoots the majority of the goals and in round two she was quite dominate,” she said.
Gray said while Fedke was a player to watch, the defensive unit also needed to keep an eye on the Bombers’ goal attack.
With a full team on Saturday, Gray said the Giants’ game plan would not change.
“We will apply full-court defensive pressure to get as many turnovers,” she said.
“The team will need to use the turnovers wisely and be accurate in goals.”
Eden-Apsley v Kalkee
WITH four players down, Edenhope-Apsley will look for a steady game as finals approach.
Coach Leonie Lang said every player needed to play hard to grab the win.
“There’s a big hole in our defence with Cynthia Watt missing this week and the Van Dyk sisters won’t be playing this weekend,” she said.
“We’re missing three of our best players but it’s important that we go in hard and keep the game steady and short.”
Lang said Kalkee was not to be underestimated.
“They’ve only improved and they’re young, fit and fast,” she said.
Kalkee coach Rebekah Harvey said she expected the game to be tighter than their last meeting.
“We have come a long way, which we showed last week against Harrow-Balmoral,” she said.
Harvey said her team would concentrate on the flow and pressure through the mid-court.
“It helped us last week and we will continue that into this week by shutting down their mid-court,” she said.
Harvey said with a full team ready to go, players would stick tight and show how good they could be.
Jep-Rainbow v Natimuk United
SITTING second on the ladder, Natimuk United is closing the percentage gap on Laharum.
The Storm are unlikely to grab the win.
Laharum v Swifts
THE league-leader Mountain Maids will be fighting for wins to keep Natimuk United at an arm’s length.
Swifts can keep up the pressure, but Saturday’s encounter looks a tough one against strong competition.
Har-Balmoral v Pimpinio
WITH key players injured, the Tigers will struggle against Harrow-Balmoral, who are looking to shake up the ladder before finals.
Taylors Lake v Rupanyup
THE Lakers need to play a steady game when facing the Panthers in round 13 if they hope to add a win to their tally.
