Artist Katie Kaff-eine will paint the trail’s final silo at Rosebery later this month.
She said she was thrilled to be part of the trail.
“The communities have been super supportive and I’ve seen the energy these silos are bringing to towns,” she said.
“For an area that doesn’t have a lot of street art, Yarriambiack Shire took a brave step and now everyone wants a silo.
“It’s such an incredible project and hopefully I get lots of nice painting days.”
Kaff-eine is a former lawyer who turned to art about five years ago.
“For the past three years I’ve mainly been doing international projects, so it’s nice to be back in Australia again doing street art,” she said.
Kaff-eine said when she was asked to be part of the Silo Art Trail, she knew it was an opportunity that she couldn’t turn down.
“I had seen the Brim silos and they were incredible,” she said.
“Even though I am not cool with heights, there was no way I wasn’t going to do it.”
Kaff-eine said she was still finalising her design for the Rosebery silos.
“I was fortunate enough to assist artist Rone with the Lascelles silos.
“That helped me get my head around it and learn how to take a small painting and put it on something much larger and curved,” he said.
“I’ve started playing around with colours – the Rosebery silo is sandwiched between Brim and Patchewollock, which are both monotone, so I wanted to put a little bit of colour in mine.
“I want to paint something with people and animals and the relationship between us and the land.
“Not many people live at Rosebery but it’s still a great part of the Mallee region.
“I was able to go up there for a while and have a look around.
“I’ve had a lot of ideas bouncing around in my head, and I’m ready to work now – I’m excited.”
Yarriambiack mayor Graeme Massey said Kaff-eine would start painting on August 7.
He said it would take her about four or five weeks to complete the design.
Cr Massey said the Rosebery site comprised five silos and Kaff-eine would paint all five.
