Representatives from services across the Wimmera including Rural Northwest Health, Wimmera Health Care Group, and West Wimmera Health Service discussed topics including aged care, wellbeing, preventative health, and access to services.
Wimmera Health Care Group board member Richard Goudie said a current shortage of doctors in the region was top of mind for many participants.
“We also spoke about the need to recruit other specialists into the region, such as surgeons and physicians, as that is a real issue in remote and rural areas,” he said.
Mr Goudie said he welcomed the opportunity to speak directly to government staff. “I certainly hope we’re listened to,” he said.
“It doesn’t get much better than having the premier listening to your concerns.”
