The college’s intermediate team will kick off the season on Saturday, competing the Barwon Calisthenics Competition in Geelong.
Principal coach Kylie Hermans said the club had improved significantly over the past few years and would attend more metropolitan competitions this year than ever before.
“This year we will attend four metropolitan competitions and only one regional competition, which will be in Horsham,” she said.
The club has four competitive teams in sub-junior, junior, intermediate and senior age groups.
The teams will compete in Geelong, Melbourne, Ballarat and Horsham.
Mrs Hermans said all students had been working hard to prepare for competitions.
“This is the exciting part of the year for us, all the girls look forward to performing on stage.
“It’s also a good chance to gauge how we are going, compared with other teams.”
Mrs Hermans said many teams had had extra practices, along with longer practices during the school holidays, in the lead up to the competition season.
The college’s senior and intermediate teams will compete at the Calisthenics Victoria state championships on August 19 and 20.
Horsham Calisthenics College will host its annual competition on August 25 to 27. The competition will be at the Horsham Town Hall.
