Maintaining good hearing is about communication.
- Ann Bongiorno
The Big Aussie Hearing Check is Australian Hearing’s national drive in support of Hearing Awareness Week to call on Australians to have a yearly hearing check-up.
More than 600 hearing check-points will be set up across the country from Sunday, August 20 to Saturday, August 26.
Specially fitted hearing buses will visit Stawell (Outside Brian Hancock Amcal Pharmacy, Main St) on Monday from 10am to 4pm and Ararat (Safeway carpark) on Thursday from 9am to 3.30pm.
Residents over 18 years old are able to receive a free hearing check with no appointment is necessary.
Now in its third year and with more than 7,000 hearing checks completed, The Big Aussie Hearing Check offers free hearing checks in convenient community locations.
Australian Hearing Horsham spokesperson Ann Bongiorno said this year’s theme celebrates seniors’ enjoyment of sports and activities locally available.
“Maintaining good hearing is about communication, which boosts confidence in social situations and allows people to fully participate in fitness and other activities they have always done – or to try something new,” she said.
“A hearing check is one part of overall health monitoring and if a hearing loss is detected, we can advise next steps, suitable technology and provide ongoing support.”
