Ararat author Bec McMaster has returned from the Romance Writers of America conference with a first and two second place awards.

Ms McMaster won the historical fantasy category with her novel Hexbound while she also claimed second place with Shadowbound to dominate the section of awards.

It was Ms McMaster’s first time entering the awards and said it was important to get involved in the different events in the United States.

“Most of my market is in America, so it is really good to catch up on industry news and catch up with other authors who I am friends with,” she said.

“I was a little bit surprised when they announced I had won the award, it is quite a popular category for authors to enter.”

BUSY: Bec McMaster was also part of a public book signing at the conference in Florida. Ms McMaster returned to Australia with three awards from the event.
