Dimboola led halfway through the contest but were once again made to pay for inaccuracy as the Tigers won 15.10 (100) to 10.15 (75).
Nhill coach Alan Bennett said it was pleasing to see some of his younger players step up in the win.“We had nine players under the age of 21 in our side on Saturday,” he said. “They are all players that have come up through out junior ranks and its great for them to get a win. You can look at our ladder position and say we haven’t done much this season but I think the development of our younger players has been great.”
The Tigers started the game on the right foot while Dimboola struggled in front of goals. A physical second quarter saw Dimboola get on top and establish a 14-point half-time lead.
Bennett urged his team to respond and it did with an 11 goal to five second half.
“I think the longer the game went on the better we were positioned, but it never felt like a four-goal win,” he said.
Billy Hayes put in another best on ground performance for Nhill, with Semple and Grant McLeod also among the sides best players.
Jayden Lehmann and Ben Miller led the way for Dimboola. Jayden Kuhne also put in a strong performance and Lachie Watts contributed three goals in the loss.
