Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows our state grew by an unprecedented 146,000 people last year, but only 10 per cent of them settled in regional Victoria.
As our regional communities continue to decrease in population, Melbourne is quite literally bursting at the seams.
This is why the Liberal-Nationals Population Policy Taskforce is working to develop decentralisation policies to balance our population growth and ensure regional Victoria shares in the benefits.
A report released by the Victorian Auditor-General has confirmed Daniel Andrews has no plan for population growth and the demand for services – particularly birthing, maternal and childhood health services and kindergartens. This lack of vision could see some Victorians going without.
The Liberal-Nationals are consulting with our communities right to ensure the services and infrastructure required to cope with Victoria’s growth can be delivered.

Enrol campaign success, now it’s time to vote
WE WELCOME the announcement by the Australian Electoral Commission there has been more than 930,000 address updates and enrolments since the government announced it was pushing ahead with a postal plebiscite on marriage equality.
Figures released on Friday showing 16 million people are now eligible to participate in the postal plebiscite reveal Australians understand they cannot be complacent about marriage equality.
It has been one of the most successful enrolment campaigns in Australian history.
This amazing result is a tribute to the thousands of people around the country that have made this happen.
It’s also a reflection of the amount of energy that will be required if our LGBTI friends and family members are to win the same dignity and status as other Australians.
We are not complacent about this at all. This maybe one of the most successful enrolment campaigns but if we are to achieve equality, supporters need to ensure they vote ‘Yes’ and post their ballots back.
Our campaign is simply about a fair go for every Australian and we urge supporters across the nation to get behind and join The Equality Campaign as we work to make marriage equality a reality for every Australian.

Timely reminder to dog owners about ticks
DESPITE the fact that tick season is here, many Aussie dog owners aren’t aware of the serious harm these deadly parasites – especially paralysis ticks – can cause to their four-legged friends.
NexGard supplies guide dog handlers with its tasty, once-a- month chews which protects these special animals from ticks and fleas. But because Saturday was National Dog Day, and in recognition that all dogs are special, NexGard is highlighting its continued partnership with Guide Dogs Australia. Both NexGard and Guide Dogs Australia want all humans to become more aware of, and check for, paralysis ticks.
Here at Guide Dogs Australia the health of our dogs is vital and that’s why we highlight preventative medicine.
We have puppies placed all over Australia – from metropolitan to regional areas – who are looked after by our dedicated puppy raisers. Therefore, it’s really important that we use an effective preventative product for fleas and ticks.
