The market finished the week at 5,786.14 down 17.27 points from the previous week's close of 5,803.41. On Friday's trade the All Ordinaries finished up 9.84 points or 0.29 per cent.

Mesoblast Limited (MSB) announced it had successfully completed the institutional entitlement offer for the fully underwritten $50.7m capital raising. Proceeds from the fully underwritten Entitlement Offer will be used to fund the Company's Phase Three clinical programs, commercial manufacturing and ongoing operations. MSB share price fell slightly following the news and then ended the week on $1.44.
BlueScope Steel Limited (BSL) advised the ASX that proceedings have been issued in New Zealand against one of its subsidiaries, Toward Industries (Toward), by a special purpose vehicle (NZ Iron Sands Holdings (NZIS)), representing a consortium of small private investors. The proceedings relate to NZIS failed attempt to buy Toward's Taharoa Iron Sands mining business (NZSM). After an extended sale process, a sale to NZIS failed because the required consents and conditions were not achieved. BSL finished the week on $10.78.
Harvey Norman Holdings announced a record breaking full-year result, with NPAT for the year ended June 30 reaching $448.98m. Profit before tax was $639.81m, an increase of 29.6pc from the previous year. Excluding net property revaluation increments, profit before income tax was $531.76m-an increase of 19.4pc from $445.41m previously. The company-operated retail segment profit before tax profit result increased 24.3pc in 2016 to $90.85m, compared to $73.11m in the previous financial year. HVN finished the week on $3.91.
At the close of weekly trading, the gold price finished at $1,330.40 per ounce, the WTI oil price traded at $47.29 a barrel, and the Australian dollar was worth US $0.7970.
In the US on Friday night, the Dow Jones finished up 39.46 points to end the week at 21,987.56.
The Share Price Index (SPI) finished up 24.00 points which should lead to a positive start to today’s trade.
