Horsham coach Pauline Butler said her team is excited to get its finals campaign started after having the first week of off. “Both teams are strong at either end of the court and through the middle and I think it will come down to who can get on top earliest,” she said.
Missing from the Horsham lineup will be Mel Scott after the defender was injured in the final round of the regular season.
Butler said her team had played with different combinations throughout the season to prepare for a situation where they would be forced to make changes. “I’m pretty confident with whichever combination we use but you can’t replace Mel,” she said. “She’s like a mother to the girls in this team; there is so much respect for her from the players and from me as well.”
Horsham won the first game between the sides during the regular season but the Burras finished on top in the next two encounters.
Minyip-Murtoa coach Claire Drum said her side’s preparations focused on refining the details. “We’ve been working hard all season and its just a matter of continuing to do the same but a little bit better,” she said.
Drum said she thought the game would be won by the team most on song at the attacking end.
“Each team has a fair bit of firepower, so as much as the qualifying final was won by defence I think this will be won in attack,” she said.
