Coles Horsham has started an initiative for Very Special Kids, Victoria’s only children’s hospice that provides respite and end-of-life care for children in need.
Coles Horsham manager Steven Lemmens said the store started selling $2 Very Special Kids donation cards at its checkouts from Wednesday.
“It is a state-driven initiative, but being the remote store we are and given how in touch with the community we are, this is something we are absolutely behind,” he said.
“When customers come through the registers, we scan the cards and all the donations at the end of the fundraiser will go to Very Special Kids.
“We run other initiatives during the year such as Red Kite, Second Bite, and Share the Dignity – we’ve had incredible traction with that.
“It is in the DNA of our store to drive these sorts of things.”
The Horsham store is one of 132 Coles supermarkets across Victoria involved in the initiative.
The campaign will run until September 19.
