Fisher joined the club as the director of coaching in 2017 but has decided to take his involvement in the club to another level next season.
He said it was an easy decision after being around the team during the season and can see plenty of potential in the group.
“The relationships I have built this year, I can see a real future for this footy club,” he said.
“There are some really good signs at the footy club, there are a lot of young kids here and we need to keep developing them to ensure they reach their potential.”
A strong preseason is at the top of Fisher’s list and he said that he has some ideas that will be implemented across the offseason.
“I think we need to get honest with ourselves, we need to work a lot harder and we would like to turn our football club into a similar type to AFL with the professionalism,” he said.
“The group is fairly strong and united and hopefully we can bring a few players in that can provide some guidance on the field and off it.”
The new coach said he will make some changes to the game plan but nothing extensive.
“I would not say drastic changes, Terry and Mick have implemented some good things this year and I will just continue to implement things I have learnt along the way,” he said.
I want to change our image so when teams play Ararat, they will know we are renowned for our efforts and getting the ball back through pressure.
“The second half of the year, we showed we are not too far away, so we just need to put that base down and get a little bit more headstrong and structured each year.”
Fisher said he is excited about the youth at the club and expects the young players to step up next year on the football field.
“Adam Haslett, Riley Taylor and Tommy Mills and those sort of guys at the club should be the next premiership players for the Ararat Football Club,” he said.
“We want to make finals next year and once you’re there, anything can happen.
“So we will be working hard in the offseason to give ourselves the best chance of success.
We are looking at getting a fitness coach in along the way, we will start preseason in mid October then officially Nov 13.
They have done a good job and hopefully we can continue
