Horsham’s Dale Hogan appeared in Horsham Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to criminal damage and unlawful assault.
The court heard that on April 24, Hogan was walking across the pedestrian crossing in the Horsham Plaza car park when a man drove though the crossing soon after.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Belinda Ryan said Hogan became angry and kicked the rear passenger side of the vehicle, causing a small dent.
The driver then yelled at Hogan and a verbal argument started.
The driver got out of his car and Hogan pushed him, causing him to fall backwards.
Senior Constable Ryan said police used security camera footage to identify Hogan.
Hogan said he was deeply apologetic and embarrassed by the incident.
“It was my perception that the driver entered the crossing too early, but since seeing the footage, I understand that wasn’t the case,” he said.
“There is no excuse for what I did.”
Magistrate Mark Stratmann fined Hogan $750 without conviction.
