WHEAT Milk Sugar is the winner of the Business Horsham WOW Customer Service Reward Program for July and August.
Business Horsham run the bi-monthly awards, which recognise a business and employee for excellent customer service.
Horsham’s Cooks Manchester and Lingerie staff member Kelly Smithyman won the employee award.
Some of the feedback Business Horsham received about Wheat Milk Sugar included that staff were always kind and friendly, were polite and respectful, and that there was a warm and comfortable feeling to the shop.
Owners Melissa McFarlane and Dorian Doti were honoured to win the award.
“We try to interact with everyone and greet them as they come in,” Ms McFarlane said.
“We like to have discussions with our customers to find out what they want – are they looking to feed their family or feed visitors?
“It’s about having a conversation with people.”
Ms McFarlane said when customers returned to the store, she would ask them about the product they bought last time.
“We might ask them how the pasta bake they tried was and people can’t believe that we remembered,” she said.
Mr Doti said they also wanted to empower people with cooking.
“We talk to customers about over-cooking or under-cooking and how to store things, so they can be confident to cook,” he said.
“We take great pride in customers who come back to the store.”
Mr Doti said they were overwhelmed and humbled by the award. Miss Smithyman has been working at Cooks Manchester and Lingerie for more than six years.
She said it was a massive surprise to win the employee award.
“I try to always be friendly and polite,” she said.
“You have to listen to customers and understand what they want.
“It’s great when you can supply what someone came in for.”
Feedback Business Horsham received about Miss Smithyman included that the information she provided was excellent and that she helped customers get the product they wanted.
The WOW Customer Service Reward Program will run until the end of June 2018 with awards announced every two months.
