About this time in 1927 the Stawell Hospital Auxiliary had its inaugural meeting.
And 90 years since then, the group is still in existence and doing good for the community.
The first meeting was on September 9 where 29 women formed the first branch of the Stawell Hospital Auxiliary.
Elected president was Mrs D Mitchell and the chosen secretary was Mrs Alec Neil.
The group hosted its next meeting four days later where the number of members grew to 51 women.
President of today’s Stawell Hospital Auxiliary branch Merrilyne Middleton said 90 years was a very significant achievement.
“We have members that have been a part of us for 40 years now,” she said.
“It has always been a strong and well supported group.”
