The seniors were up against league powerhouses the Southern Mallee Giants and lost 11.7 (73) to 8.13 (61).
It was a slow start by the blue and white outfit which cost them the contest.
If the Southern Roos played like they did in the final quarter for the entirety of the game they could have been the premiers.
They won the final term 5.6 (36) to 3.1 (19).
Scott Heath played out of his skin for the Southern Roos, kicking one goal in the process.
Harrow-Balmoral president Rosemary Langley said the senior team knew they were up against a tough Giants line-up.
“We knew what we had to do and we knew (from past meetings) that they were going to come at us hard, early,” she said.
“We got caught on the back foot.
“In saying that everyone was so pleased with how they brought the game home. It just wasn’t enough.”
Langley said she thought Nick Pekin stood up in the final quarter.
“Jandre Slabbert had great effort all day,” she said.
Langley said it was disappointing to lose out to the Giants.
“There was raw emotion at the end of it,” she said.
“The boys were absolutely gutted, they just didn’t get there in time.
“(Coach) Paul Cleaver gave an honest message to all the boys after the game in where they need to be next year if the want to win it.”
Langley said player retention is the next thing to get done.
“We knew they would give everything on the day, we are happy as long as they left all they could on that ground,” she said.
