However, organisers have urged people to be quick as tickets to the black-tie lunch can sell out in minutes.
Rupanyup Major Events president Tess Healy said preparations were well underway for this year’s banquet.
“Everything is going beautifully,” she said. “The committee has been working on the event for a few years now – there are a few new faces, but we have a good core of people, so organising the banquet is a bit like clockwork for us now, everyone knows what they need to do.”
Miss Healy said this year’s barley crop was just north of Rupanyup.
“The crop is going really well, it looks pleasing so far,” she said.
“Last year’s crop was a hard one to beat, but things look promising at the moment.”
Entertainment this year will include Murtoa band The Stumps, which is made up of Clary Golder and Brett Schmidt. Later in the day, Swan Hill band Seven Car Pile Up will perform.
Miss Healy said tickets would be available online from 9am on Wednesday.
She said she expected tickets to sell quickly.
“We’ve been doing extensive advertising this year to get the word out,” she said.
“Facebook works wonders and we’ve had a lot of comments on our posts, which is really encouraging.
“I think tickets will again be in high demand this year.”
Miss Healy said there was always a hype about the Barley Banquet.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how fast it sells out,” she said.
Tickets are capped at 400 each year. “It’s going to be a really exciting event again – the format doesn’t need to change because it just works,” Miss Healy said.
She said people could go to rupanyupmajorevents.com.au to buy tickets.
Money raised from the Barley Banquet gets put back into the Rupanyup community.
Miss Healy said in the past, the event had raised money for a new scoreboard at the town’s football oval.
