The Saints netballer tallied 34 votes, 11 more than the dual runner-up best and fairest winners Kate Bligh of Ararat and Penelope Manserra of Horsham.
Ruwoldt grabbed votes in 13 of the 16 games in the 2017 home and away season, averaging 2.6 votes in each game she polled in.
Bligh and Manserra were inseparable, both netballers gained votes in 10 games.
Ruwoldt’s Saints outfit finished the season in second position below Bligh’s Rats.
The Saints had two consecutive losses, first against the Rats 41-32 and then to the Warrack Eagles in the semi-finals 48-38.
Ruwoldt said she was expecting to poll so many votes so early on.
“It’s a massive achievement I guess,” she said.
“I was a bit stunned, I didn’t think I would get that many votes.”
Ruwoldt said she would prefer to be playing in a grand final instead of winning the personal accolade.
“We made the second final and lost,” she said.
Ruwoldt won runner-up best and fairest in the 2016 B Grade season, upping her performances in 2017.
She said it wasn’t something she had aimed for.
“I just play netball to have fun and to try and win a premiership,” Ruwoldt said.
“There is no secret (behind winning the best and fairest award), a great bunch of girls… It’s been good.”
