Tyler raced away to victory ahead of fellow Horsham runner Sharon Howden.
Tyler said the victory has been long-awaited.
“I was so happy to have a win. It’s been a while,” she said.
“In the last few races I have been trailing Sharon Howden.”
The two Horsham runners have both been training for marathons.
Tyler has been in preparations for the Melbourne marathon next month while Howden ran in the Adelaide marathon last month.
The pair have fought out the last few races, with Howden getting the better of Tyler in most of them.
Hiowden’s win in the previous race cost her a bigger handicap, giving Tyler enough space to claim the win.
Stephanie Schulz ran second, 52 seconds behind Tyler.
Howden managed third, just 1.15 minutes behind the winner.
The race was just Schulz’s second with the club. She started ahead of Tyler but was overtaken by her, but Stephanie hung on grimly to retain second place.
Tyler said she is aiming to run the Melbourne marathon in four hours on October 15, just nine days after the club’s last race.
Tyler will also race on October 14, getting well prepared for the marathon.
In the Sub-Juniors race over one kilometre, Tom Urquhart prevailed over Olivia Hunter and Jay Jay Nitschke came third.
The next race will be the five kilometre Lois Trimble King of the Mountain at Halls Gap on Saturday, September 23.
There are just two races left for the cross country season following the Halls Gap event – a three kilometre championship on Saturday, September 30 and a five kilometre race at Big Hill on October 6.
