The Burras finished the season at the top of the table, finishing the season with two losses.
Horsham Saints are their opposition – a team that became very strong in the second half of the 2017 campaign.
The Saints had six losses during the year but managed a third place home and away season finish.
One of the Burras’ losses came at the hands of the Saints in round 10.
The Saints won the encounter 11.7 (73) to 6.5 (41).
Jarred Combe starred in that contest, kicking four goals and was named best on field.
The Burras were triumphant in the other three encounters between the two grand finalists.
In round three they won by 92 points, in round 15 they won by 67 points and in the semi-final they won by 24 points.
Burras coach Lachie Jordan said his team was feeling “pretty good” coming into the contest.
“There is a good buzz around the club with both seniors and reserves in the grand final,” he said.
Jordan said his team was remaining calm.
“We haven’t changed too much for the grand final – it’s just another game,” he said.
“We still need to kick a bigger score.”
The Burras will go into the grand final with a relatively unchanged list.
“Saints were actually the last team we played,” Jordan said.
“We won’t change too much at all. We will have an unchanged side.”
Jordan said an effort from his full squad would be required to get over the line.
“We haven’t had one player stand out this year. We have had a pretty even spread of blokes,” he said.
“I think it will be close because I think they will have some senior players come down. It will be physical all day.
“They have Gavin Kelm. He’s good but nothing we can’t handle.”
Saints coach Dennis Hobbs said his team was excited to play in the grand final after a slow start to the season.
“It looked like we were going to struggle getting into finals, then we had a couple players come back into the side,” he said.
Hobbs said the Burras had about 13 players missing when the Saints defeated the minor premiers in round 10.
“A few people got excited about that win. It was good for us but if you look on paper, their team was quite weak,” he said.
“That was the start of the turnaround for us.
“No-one really believed we could make finals.”
Hobbs said the game would be tough.
“I think they will be tough to beat, to be honest. In the semi-final we couldn’t keep up with them after half time,” he said.
“They ran over us in centre half forward after we lost Jake McIntyre. He should be back for the game though.”
Hobbs said the game would be won in the midfield and forward lines.
“Both teams have good back lines,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to it and are expecting a tough game.”
